I fucking hate the 2012 Lara Croft.
Hate hate hate. No one understands how much I cannot stand what they did to her character. She looks like a 14 year old boy.

she does look human but i would have had a less.. drastic change. keep the usual outfit and less dirt.

I like the last row of improvement they did on her. The body structure of the lady in the earlier years were ugly. oo;

Personally, I think the last row is by far the most appealing in terms of physical shape. I can appreciate that people want to keep the “iconic” look (which would realistically would be as simple as a minor costume edit), but her boobs look like BOOBS now. Like, actual appealing human anatomy. In the old games it looked like two oblong balloons strapped to her chest with a shirt wrapped around it. It looks like they actually started LOOKING at some lady parts for reference around AOD. Even implants don’t stick straight out from the chest at a perpendicular angle, because silicon weighs more than air. NO boobs ever looked like the original design. Unless Newton was a lying asshole and gravity is just a ruse cooked up by the government to keep up down(pun intended). And I know that for the first few games they were dealing with a lot more technological restraints than they are now, but STILL. I’ve done 3D modeling before and it’s not that difficult to move a few vertices around so things have a more natural shape/weight to them.

Honestly the costume for the new one SHOULD be different from the original, isn’t it supposed to be like an origin story for how she became who she is? Who dresses the same forever? I know I don’t dress the same way *I* did when I was eighteen. So sure, the hair is different, and the clothes are different, and she looks younger. But isn’t that kind of the point here? Yes, she is dirty and roughed up. YOU try doing what she does and keep your clothes spotless. A large part of game development these days is focusing on realism and detail and using ever-increasing technological power to give the player a more immersing experience. Why not make her appearance reflect all of the crap she’s going through? It makes her that much more real when you connect her adventures with visual cues you can see on her design.

Also, (not 100% related but…) do you have any idea how hard it is to do action-y things with boobs? Running gets painful without proper support. I can barely even hold a guitar properly, because my boobs have to go SOMEWHERE. I wear a C, and I can’t even *imagine* what it must be like for Lara to do all of that crap with those cantaloupe sized things in the original design in her blouse. God bless that poor woman, it’s a wonder her back doesn’t snap in half.

To whoever said that the 2012 version looks like a 14-year-old-boy, I actually laughed out loud. I know you were being sarcastic, but imagine how broken a person would have to be to need above a size B breast size to recognize that a person is a girl. That would take so many years of very specialized gaming and detachment of reality, though I suppose those kinds of people could exist. Still, all the responses made me very happy. (successful troll is successful).

As a guy, I like 2012 Lara Croft far more than her previous incarnations. Though that’s probably because I find cute/pretty women more attractive than hot women.
